👋 Hello UNTAM3rs:

2023 has been less of a merry-go-round and more of a thrill ride for crypto. Prices have been doing the tango with new regulations and the ever-fickle market mood. Beyond the trading screens, crypto is getting its hands dirty with real-world uses, from borderless transactions to the wild west of DeFi. And on the tech front, we're seeing some slick upgrades aimed at making crypto more like the superhero we want it to be – faster, stronger, and more reliable. 🚀

AI is not just a buzzword anymore. It's getting eerily good at understanding us humans, which is both cool and a tiny bit Black Mirror-esque. The big brains are wrestling with keeping AI on the straight and narrow, ensuring it plays nice and fair. Meanwhile, AI's sneaking into every nook and cranny of our lives, making things snazzier but also raising the question, “Are we still in charge here?” 🤔

As we tie the bow on 2023 and gear up for the festivities, we've curated a list of industry lists of 2024 predictions (below) to tickle your brain as the ball drops.

Here's to a season filled with cheer and a leap into a year brimming with promise!

🔦 #5 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Priscilla Koukoui, Co-Founder of Power Women NFT & NFT Factory

🎙️ In 140 characters can you tell us about yourself and your work?

Passionate about Tech & Innovation. Driving Transformations within organisations to create sustainable impacts for the future. AI, Metaverse, web3 and new ways of working.

🎙️ How did you get interested in emerging technologies & web3?

I have many passions, and I often find myself at the convergence of emerging innovations.

My journey into web3 began while I was already immersed in XR (Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality) for several years. It was in 2016, when colleagues from a startup introduced me to the power of the blockchain. Participating in the Blockathon, a blockchain hackathon in Sydney where the first NFTs in Australia were created (as far as I know), deepened my interest and pushed me further down that rabbit hole 🐰 🕳️.   

🎙️What has been your biggest learnings to date?

Be Yourself - There is only ONE like you. 

Dare the amazing adventure of self-discovery!

🎙️What is the best piece of advice for anyone getting started in emerging technologies or web3?

If you have the will or interest and are ready to work diligently? - Then go for it!

🎙️What is a favorite book or podcast/ blog/ resource you think everyone should know about?

I am a huge podcast fan, especially long-form interviews. NFT Morning is one of my favourite my podcasts! Find an episode in English (as it is a French podcast!), almost 600 episodes to date dedicated to NFTs.  Find the one, where I get interviewed ;)

🎙️What’s the one thing you wish you knew when you first started working in web3 & emerging technologies?

Anyone getting started at anything sucks. Dare to do it anyway. And improve as you go.

If you need help? Ask for it!

Do not doubt myself (yourself!) in front of anyone, especially men, in a male dominated industry.

🎙️From your vantage point, what are the exciting developments or trends & insights on the horizon? What are some of your predictions for 2024?

What is coming next: The convergence of emerging technologies! The Power of AI will harness the power of web3 and the Metaverse. Prediction for BTC to go up until April 2024, then down again in May 2024 (Editor’s note: Priscilla did share this prediction before BTC hit an all-time high of 43K this week 💪). Institutional and large organisations while continuing their AI effort, won't discard blockchain technologies.

My long-term prediction: A hand-free post mobile phone era.
